Achieving an overall sense of well being requires some physical fitness. It seems like everyone knows this, but not everyone finds it easy to come up with a plan for keeping in shape. We all know that person who lives and breathes working out, but let’s face it, that is a minority! Many of us are hard-pressed to find a spare 30 minutes in a day for exercise! Something to remember is that physical activities includes all manner of fun activities. Finding the one that energizes and excites you is the key to developing a physical fitness routine that is easily maintained. By knowing the physical intensity of the activity you choose, you can determine how much time you should spend to get the maximum benefit.
High-intensity sports like jogging/running, cross-country skiing, and fencing are terrific for physical fitness, while also being fun and invigorating. To get started in the world of fencing, it’s important to get a few pieces of fencing gear, and a willing partner. If you’re participating primarily for fitness, participating in a sport such as fencing is great because it is a full body workout. Your arms are engaged with the foil, and of course your legs move you into positions to score touches. Once you’ve obtained the fencing equipment you need, you can begin enjoying the fun of fencing and the physical benefits, too!
Other, simpler sports like jumping rope are also a possible fitness routine to consider. Each year people travel to jump rope competitions to show off their skills; it is a bigger world than you may imagine. It isn’t hard to see what a great cardiovascular workout jumping rope can be. There are plenty of advantages of jump roping, not the least of which is that you can do it in a very limited space. You can even jump rope in your apartment building – although it is probably best not to do it on a top floor!
By choosing high intensity sports as an avenue to physical fitness, it makes an otherwise tougher road just a bit easier. No need to get hung up on spending lots of money on expensive gym memberships and personal training. If this is your preference, surely it is a great option that will have great results. However, if you opt to maintain your fitness by participating in fun sports you enjoy, you may get even more joy out of your workouts.
